Forever Dance - Policies and Procedures

We will hard to develop your child's full dance potential while at the same time ensuring that their dance education is a fun and positive learning experience.

Solos/Duets/Trios Fees

Solos/Duets/Trios are optional, but highly encouraged. It is a great way to level up a dancer's training and gain more experience on stage. A Solo/Duet/Trio sign-ip sheet will be emailed out mid September.

Solo/Duets/Trios are available from a Forever Dance instructor of your choice. The instructor will work with and get to know the dancer during the first few weeks of classes.

Each dancer is different: Choreography, cleaning and rehearsal of a routine typically takes 3 to 4 1hr classes.

Dancers must be 6 years of age by December 31,2024 and must be enrolled in weekly classes in the genre at Forever Dance.

Dancers who wish to have a routine choreographed outside of the studio must seek permission from the director of Forever Dance. As the dancer with outside choreography will be representing Forever Dance on stage, a minimum of 4 1/2 hrs.' of practice and rehearsal sessions will be required of each outside routine with a Forever Dance instructor of their choice. Dancers are allowed one outside choreographed dance in one genre. Dancer must have at least one solo/duet/trios by a Forever Dance Instructor. Fee's structure and fee structure for outside choreography, schedules, etc. are available through the Forever Dance Director

Costumes

Every student will require a costume for the year-end recital that is held in May. Costume prices can range anywhere between $65.00-$90 depending on the design and the US Dollar. The individual teachers are responsible for designing all costumes and will do their very best to keep the costumes affordable. A separate notice will be sent home to the parents via email informing them of their balance owing including any props needed closer to competition or year-end recital. The studio will purchase all fabrics, notions etc. needed for all groups participating in competition or year-end recital. The studio however, will not be responsible for any costume items lost or stolen after costumes have been sent home. In addition to costumes, the students are responsible for supplying their own dance shoes, tights, undergarments, hair accessories and make-up.

The costume down payment is $85 per student per class and is payable to Jo-Ella Sander on or before October 1st.

Costumes and/or fabric will be ordered on October 15th. This deposit enables us to make these purchases on your behalf. Costume deposits are not refunded if notice is not given or the costumes and /or fabric have already been purchased. Costumes will not be given out unless full payment is received. No exceptions. Costume deposits that are not paid for may result in costumes or fabric not being ordered and or/purchased. All cosyumes must be paid for before they can be worn at rehearsal.

Class Attendance

Please make every effort to attend all regularly scheduled classes. When you miss lessons, you fall behind and make it difficult for the group to progress. If you miss several classes (3+) for health or personal reasons a private lesson with the teacher is required. Please be punctual (ideally early) for all classes and rehearsals. It is very disruptive to the class is a student is late. There are no refunds for any missed classes, but there are frequently opportunities to make up classes.

If a student will be absent, please email the studio to inform the teacher or contact instructor/class through WhatsApp. If you have upcoming dates or holidays where you will be away, please also send us an email and inform us.

Food in the Studio

Absolutely no food, gum or candy in class. You may eat other foods in the change room (as long as you don't make a mess). Please use the garbage or recycling provided by the church to clean up after yourself.

We expect that all students will be on their best behavior in class and will be respectful of other dancers within the school, the teachers, the premises, and the other tenants that occupy the building. When students are performing outside the studio, we expect them to be on their best behavior, to be courteous to competitors, other teachers, and members of the general public.

Students and/or parents who repeatedly disrupt classes, who conduct themselves in a manner that the studio would deem objectionable, or who cause reputational damage to the studio will be expelled from the studio.

There are several annual competitions that are avialble for our dancers to compete in. All competition groups, solos, and duos are entered and adjudicated for marks. Our focus will not be put on the marks or on the placing, but how well the group performed and if they tried their best.
